Scott Walter has been appointed as the new Vice President of Sales for the Manitex business segment at Tadano America, a major crane and lifting equipment company. This leadership change is part of Tadano’s plan to grow its sales efforts and support customers better as it continues to grow the Manitex business after Tadano’s acquisition last year.
Tadano recently bought the whole Manitex company, Manitex now completely belongs to the Tadano Group. This deal is a key part of Tadano’s strategy to increase the range of products in North America and around the world. Manitex brings useful skills in mobile truck cranes, elevated work platforms, and other lifting equipment that add to Tadano’s existing product range.
With this change, Tadano aims to improve sales and customer support for Manitex products and help the company better serve its customers in the construction, industrial, and lifting solution markets. Walter’s new role will involve leading sales teams, working with equipment distributors, and helping grow business across different regions.
Scott Walter brings almost 30 years of sales experience and more than 20 years of management background to his new position. Before joining Tadano, he worked as the Vice President of Strategic Accounts in the OEM sector at Ritchie Bros., where he managed key sales teams and helped shape business relationships in the heavy equipment market. His broad experience is expected to support Tadano’s ongoing growth and customer focus.
At Tadano America, Walter will work with other sales leaders who specialize in different product ranges, including boom trucks, bucket trucks, and knuckle boom cranes. Together, they will focus on strengthening customer service and making it easier for buyers to get the right equipment and support for their needs.
Dean Barley, President and CEO of Tadano America Corporation, Manitex Inc, and Tadano Mantis Corporation, shared his thoughts on the appointment. He said that the addition of Scott Walter to the team builds on the company’s long‑term vision for Manitex. Barley highlighted that from the beginning, Tadano saw Manitex as a key part of its plan to become a leader in the lifting equipment industry. With Walter in this role, the company will be better positioned to grow and serve customers more effectively.
Tadano has been expanding its global reach in recent years. The company first invested in Manitex in 2018 before completing the full takeover in January 2025. This move has helped Tadano offer a wider range of products, including truck cranes and elevated work platforms, while gaining additional engineering and manufacturing locations in North America and Europe. This strategic expansion supports the company’s goal of offering more solutions to its customers worldwide.
Scott Walter has expressed pride in joining a company with a strong global reputation. He said he is excited to work with the Manitex team and help build on the success the company has already achieved. Walter also mentioned that he looks forward to using his experience to make it easier for customers and dealers to succeed with Tadano’s products.
In simple terms, this leadership change at Tadano reflects the company’s commitment to growth. By bringing in a seasoned sales leader like Scott Walter, Tadano is placing a strong focus on improving sales strategy, expanding its reach in North America, and supporting customers with high‑quality lifting equipment solutions.
