Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting to discuss long-range strikes on strategic targets in Russia. After the meeting, the team agreed to keep doing these operations and made a new list of most important targets to hit.
Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine’s new drones can now strike targets at distances of up to 3,000 kilometers away. This shows how much stronger Ukraine’s ability to attack deep inside Russia has become. The president said Ukraine continues to work on making drones that can reach even farther.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian weapons are already capable of operating at a distance of over 3,000 kilometers. He also said Ukraine keeps building better technology and making more weapons to increase their range.
Since launching its long-range strike campaign, Ukraine has carried out more than 1,000 strike missions. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, these operations have targeted Russian oil facilities, weapons manufacturing sites, and military supply routes. He also said Ukrainian drones have successfully reached targets in the Ural region, Siberia, and other areas deep inside Russia.
The war has changed dramatically because of these attacks. Ukraine is now hitting oil refineries and defense industry buildings deep inside Russia almost every single day. Many Russian regions are suffering fuel shortages, with people waiting in long lines at gas stations. Ukrainian drones targeted a major oil refinery in the city of Omsk in western Siberia, located nearly 2,500 kilometers from Ukrainian territory.
During the meeting, Zelenskyy and his team made an updated list of targets. They chose these targets based on their effect on Russia’s ability to make weapons, send supplies to troops, and pay for the war. The new strategy focuses on hitting the places that help Russia keep fighting.
Zelenskyy said the main goal of these attacks is to create conditions for a peaceful end to the war. He wants these attacks to push Russia toward peace talks by making it harder for Russia to build weapons and damaging Russia’s money supply. He believes when Russian leaders feel that the war is damaging their own country, they will be more willing to negotiate.
Looking ahead, Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine plans to increase drone range to 4,000 kilometers this year, and 5,000 to 10,000 kilometers next year. This rapid growth shows Ukraine is building its military technology much faster than many people expected.
Zelenskyy said that when Ukraine’s long-range strikes were unable to reach Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russian President Vladimir Putin did not view the war as a serious concern. He added that Ukraine’s growing ability to strike targets near Russia’s largest cities is now changing that situation.
Ukraine says its partners know what steps are needed to increase pressure on Russia. Ukrain plans to keep running long-range operations to weaken Russia’s ability to fight and push the country toward peace talks. Zelenskyy said Ukraine’s accurate strikes are effectively working to create conditions for real diplomacy.
