Kenya Airways has added four more awards to its growing list of travel industry achievements. The airline won the four awards at the 2026 World Travel Awards in Zanzibar(Tanzania) adding to its strong record of recognition in recent years.
Last year, in 2025, Kenya Airways also won four major awards at World Travel Awards. Those wins included Africa’s Leading Airline, Africa’s Leading Airline Business Class, Africa’s Leading Airline Brand, and Africa’s Leading Inflight Magazine.
This year looked even stronger on paper. Airways receiving nominations in six categories at the 2026 World Travel Awards. The categories included Leading Airline, Business Class, Economy Class, Airline Brand, Inflight Magazine, and Lounge.
Out of the six nominations, Kenya Airways won four awards. The wins covered key parts of the passenger experience, including the airline’s overall service, Economy Class, airport lounge, and inflight magazine.
These awards cover different parts of the travel experience. The lounge award shows that passengers are happy with the airline’s airport services, while the inflight magazine award highlights the quality of the content passengers can enjoy during their flights.
Kenya Airways’ Pride Lounge has also received praise from other groups, including a Traveler’s Choice Award from TripAdvisor in 2025. The airline has earned World Travel Awards recognition for several years, showing its strong record of success.
Kenya Airways said these wins come at a time when the company keeps working hard to grow. The airline continues building up its route network, expanding its fleet of planes, and improving the travel experience for its customers.
The World Travel Awards have a long history in the travel industry. Organizers started the awards in 1993 to recognize leading companies in travel, tourism, and hospitality around the world. Winners are selected through public voting, with travelers and travel industry workers choosing their favorites.
Kenya Airways has also made changes to its fleet this year. In July, the airline brought its Boeing 777 back after 10 years away. The large aircraft can carry about 400 passengers and now operates flights between Nairobi and London Heathrow Airport.
The airline also has major plans for future growth. Kenya Airways aims to increase its fleet from 32 planes to 67 by 2030 and 100 by 2035. The airline also expects its yearly passenger numbers to rise from about 5.2 million to around 9 million by 2030.
Kenya Airways also received other awards earlier this year. The airline won Best Seat Comfort in Africa and the APEX Four Star Major Airline award at another international event. Recently its website and mobile app were nominated for awards at the World Travel Tech Awards.
Kenya Airways also saw a change in its leadership this year. Captain George Kamal took over as the airline’s acting Group Managing Director and CEO earlier in 2026.
Kenya Airways continues to improve its position in Africa’s aviation industry. The airline has earned major awards over the years, expanded its fleet, and added more destinations that connect African cities with the rest of the world.
