Huawei Malaysia and CelcomDigi have signed a three-year deal to build train and improve skills of CelcomDigi’s employees. CelcomDigi is Malaysia’s largest mobile network operator. It has around 20 million mobile customers and is based in Shah Alam.

The two companies signed a formal agreement known as an MoU in Petaling Jaya on November 3. CelcomDigi CEO Albern Murty and Huawei Malaysia CEO Simon Sun signed it. Huawei Asia Pacific President Terry He and CelcomDigi Chief Human Resources Officer Azmi Ujang also attended the signing ceremony. The full company names are Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and CelcomDigi Berhad.

Under the deal, Huawei Malaysia will give CelcomDigi workers advanced training and leadership lessons. The training will focus on four big major area including artificial intelligence, data analytics, 5G, and cloud technology. Employees will also learn about new technologies and how businesses use them in real situations. The program aims to help CelcomDigi improve its services and move forward with digital growth. It will also give employees more chances to develop skills and build their careers.

Data analytics means studying large amounts of information to find useful patterns. Cloud technology allows users to store data and use computing services over the internet instead of relying only on local computers. 5G is a advanced modern mobile network that sends data faster than older networks.

Employees will also have the chance to earn Huawei certificates at three levels, Associate, Professional and Expert. The Associate level is for beginners who want to develop basic skills. The Professional level is designed for people with practical work experience, while Expert is the highest level. Huawei offers these certificates in networking, information technology and communication technology. The certificates are valid for three years, after which employees need to renew them.

Simon Sun said, “Talent is the cornerstone of digital transformation.” which means skilled workers play an important role in digital growth. He said Huawei Malaysia will work with CelcomDigi to create training programs that match the company’s needs. He also said this partnership will also help CelcomDigi use proven methods from around the world and support Malaysia’s digital growth.

Albern Murty said a company’s success will depend on how quickly it can learn, adapt and develop new ideas. He added that the partnership will help CelcomDigi improve its leadership, digital skills and ability to create new ideas. The deal also supports the company’s goal of building a workforce that is ready for future challenges.

Both companies have worked together before. In August 2024, they signed an agreement to bring AI technology into CelcomDigi’s mobile network. At a major industry event in 2025, they also agreed to develop an AI-powered network that connects mobile and home internet services. Their past work has also included leadership training, professional certification programs, large learning events and technology knowledge-sharing sessions.

Huawei Malaysia is also working with other institutions to develop future talent. It recently partnered with Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS to prepare skilled workers for future needs. Both sides aim to build a workforce with the skills needed to meet future challenges. They also hope to support new digital services and improve technology skills across Malaysia.
