Volkswagen Released the First Teaser of Virtus Facelift With Updated Design and GT Details

Volkswagen Virtus Facelift

Volkswagen India has released the first teaser of the updated Virtus sedan. It gives buyers a first look at the car’s new design. The teaser shows changes to the front and rear, along with new wheels and GT details. Volkswagen has not announced the price yet. The final launch of the facelift is expected in December 2026.

The front keeps the Virtus’s slim headlamps, with LED daytime running lights built into each unit. A thin upper grille connects the lights and holds the Volkswagen badge in the center. A red GT badge also appears on right side. The wider lower air intake and sharper lines give the bumper a fresh look. The outer bumper sections use shaped panels and horizontal details instead of separate fog lamps.

Earlier reports showed a full-width light bar and a glowing logo. But the latest teaser does not show either feature. Instead, the headlamps keep their own lighting units and a regular grille connects them. The updated design also keeps the car’s familiar front-end shape.

The blue sedan has black side mirror covers and newly designed alloy wheels with sharp edges. The side design keeps the sloping roof, shoulder line and regular door handles. The top view also shows a single-pane sunroof and a shark-fin antenna.

At the rear, the split LED tail lamps have red elements that extend onto the trunk lid. A dark strip connects both sides of the lights, while a small trunk spoiler and a bumper with a dark lower section give the rear a fresh look. GT badges are also visible on the car.

The teaser does not reveal the interior. The current model has six airbags, electronic stability control and a rear-view camera. Reports say that Volkswagen may introduce new seat covers and interior trim, along with a larger 10.25-inch digital display for the driver. The current model comes with a 10.1-inch multimedia touchscreen, which may stay with updated software. A 360-degree camera could also be added. However, Volkswagen has not yet confirmed these interior changes.

The Virtus facelift is expected to keep the current 1.0-liter and 1.5-liter TSI turbo-petrol engines. The 1.0-liter engine delivers 115 PS of power and 178 Nm of torque, while the 1.5-liter version produces 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque. Both engines use turbochargers to deliver power and improve driving response. The current 1.0-liter model offers a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic, while the 1.5-liter version uses a seven-speed DSG. Reports say Volkswagen may replace the 1.0-liter automatic with an eight-speed torque-converter gearbox. The company has not confirmed these changes.

Volkswagen launched the Virtus in India in June 2022. The company manufactures this sedan at its Chakan plant in Pune using the MQB A0 IN platform. The model offers a 521-liter trunk space. This model is considered as a direct competitor of Skoda Slavia, Hyundai Verna and Honda City. The upcoming facelift will be the model’s first major update since its launch.

Volkswagen has not yet revealed the pricing, available variants, full specifications or booking dates for the updated Virtus. Volkswagen is expected to reveal more information as the model gets closer to its launch.
