The United States is facing a new diplomatic disagreement with Poland after the top U.S. diplomat in Poland ended contact with a senior Polish official. The dispute started when U.S. Ambassador Tom Rose said the U.S. Embassy would stop all contact with Włodzimierz Czarzasty, the head of Poland’s parliament, because of statements he made about President Donald Trump and a Nobel Peace Prize idea.
Ambassador Rose wrote on social media that Czarzasty’s statements were “outrageous and unprovoked insults” toward Trump and damage the relationship between the United States and Poland. He said the U.S. would have no further dealings, contacts, or communications with the parliament speaker.
The problem started after Czarzasty, who leads a political party that is part of Poland’s government, said he would not support nominating Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. He criticized Trump’s policies as violating international law’s. Because of this refusal U.S. ambassador made this decision.
The step by the U.S. ambassador got attention from U.S. politicians. Republican Congressman Don Bacon became the first member of the U.S. Congress to publicly call for Ambassador Rose to be removed from his position. Bacon wrote “Time for a new Ambassador” on social media, saying the situation showed it was time for a change in leadership at the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw.
Don Bacon is a retired general who has also served in the U.S. Congress. He is known for criticizing U.S. foreign policy, including Trump’s approach to international relations. His call for the ambassador’s removal is unusual because politicians don’t often openly demand changes in their own president’s foreign staff.
Many former American diplomats reacted to the incident. One former ambassador suggested that Poland should declare Rose “persona non grata,” meaning he would no longer be welcome in their country. Another former envoy said good diplomacy means talking to people even when you disagree with them, and that cutting off contacts over a disagreement was unnecessary.
Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk also spoke about it, saying that allies should respect, not lecture, each other. He responded to the ambassador’s remarks by reminding the U.S. that strong partnerships should be built on mutual respect rather than harsh public statements.
This diplomatic disagreement shows tensions between the United States and Polish government. Poland is a key U.S. partner in Europe, and both countries are members of NATO, a military partnership meant to keep peace and security in the region. But disagreements like this show that even close allies can have serious disputes when politics and national pride are involved.
This disagreement happened while people were already talking about the U.S. ambassador’s actions. Tom Rose has been in Warsaw since late 2025 after President Trump chose him and he got approved. He has shared strong opinions about Poland and U.S. relations and history, which have caught attention in both countries.
Right now, the U.S. State Department and the White House have not said anything about whether Ambassador Rose will be removed or moved to a different job. This situation remains a topic of discussion among politicians, diplomats, and the public in both countries.
This diplomatic conflict shows how sensitive international relationships can be, especially when political statements and national pride are involved. Nations that work together closely still need careful communication and respect to avoid harming their shared interests.
